Defense lawyer convinced the prime suspect for Yara’s murder is innocent

BERGAMO-Claudio Salvagni, lawyer of construction worker Massimo Giuseppe Bossetti, who has been charged for killing school girl Yara Gambirasio, said Tuesday that he is convinced his client is innocent.
Bossetti is "determined to prove his innocence," Salvagni told reporters after meeting his client in prison. "He told me things that make me sure he was not involved in her murder," added Mr Salvagni.
Bossetti, father of three, was arrested last week after forensic scientists found his DNA on the body of young Yara. Police also discovered a list of phone calls that were made by Bossetti to an unknown number at the exact same time that Yara disappeared.
Despite evidence against him, Bossetti, 44, denies any involvement in the murder of the 13-year-old. Yara Gambirasio disappeared on Novembre 26 2010 on her way home from gym practice at Brembate di Sopra sports centre, in the northern province of Bergamo.
Sources say police are still carrying out investigations into Yara Gambirasio's murder.
