Police and no global marchers clash

ROME -- Police and no-global demonstrators clashed outside the Finance Ministry Saturday as marchers smashed windows of banks in the area, witnesses said. Organisers claimed as many as 70,000 people took part in the protest over several hours in Rome that climaxed with hundreds of demonstrators throwing bottles and paper bombs at police outside the ministry building. Demonstrators carried placards against austerity measures and demande an end to evictions.
