VATICAN CITY-- Pope Leo XIV will not require further treatment after surgery for lung cancer, following tests confirming that the disease was localized, his doctors said in a statement issued by the Holy See press office.
Dr Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora said Wednesday that tissue examinations and tests on material obtained during the operation had confirmed a pulmonary adenocarcinoma.
“A subsequent oncological assessment confirmed that no further treatment is necessary,” they said in a statement issued by the Holy See press office.
