Cuba receives 5 tons of humanitarian aid from Italy

ROME--Cuba has received 500,000 euros in humanitarian aid from Italy including medical supplies in light of the US imposed blockade.

On Thursday March 19 a humanitarian convoy carrying five tons of aid departed from Fumincino and arrived at Havana’s Jose Marti International airport. Over 100 European parliamentarians and representatives of social, political and trade union organizations were on board the convoy. Including Mimmo Lucano, a member of the Left Group of the European Parliament and Ilaria Salis, member of the Green and Left Alliance. A clear sign of international solidarity for the country and rejection of the blockade by the United States Government.

The cargo is part of the Nuestra America Convoy to Cuba, an international movement mobilizing to help the island as it is being pushed to the point of humanitarian collapse by the Trump administration's executive orders.

“ We are mobilizing to Cuba, bringing critical humanitarian aid for its people. The Trump administration is strangling the island, cutting off fuel, flights, and critical supplies for survival.” explains Nuestra America on their website.

The delegation is set to remain on the Island until March 24 and will support the incoming of new cargo by sea in the coming days.
