Wärtsilä supplies engines to remote heating plant in San Donato

Wärtsilä Engine

ROME - Wärtsilä signed a €17.5 million contract with Enipower to supply two Wärtsilä natural gas 34SG internal combustion engines to a cogeneration plant. The engines are among the most highly regarded, highest performance engines currently on the market.

The order is part of the revamping and expansion project at the Bolgiano plant, which supplies electricity and heat to the remote heating network in the San Donato Milanese area, which supplies homes and executive offices. Supplying up to 10 MWe each, the engines will be integrated with the new generation facility to deliver a significant increase in overall energy efficiency, leading to notable fuel savings. The plant’s environmental impact will also be reduced, particularly in terms of pollution and noise emissions.

Wärtsilä has also signed a contract with Enipower to maintain the engines for a six year period, supplying integrated services which, in addition to providing spare parts, include comprehensive assistance for keeping plant operations at the required levels of reliability.

Wärtsilä is the leading provider in the energy sector of efficient and flexible distributed generation solutions, based on internal combustion engines powered by different liquid and gaseous fuels. Its portfolio includes electrical power plants with a capacity of between 1 and 500 MW, pump and compression systems for the petroleum industry and a vast range of services, from project development to financial support and the operation and maintenance of plants on a global basis.
