VATICAN CITY – Britain’s King Charles III and Queen Camilla had a private audience with Pope Francis and exchanged wishes for recovery from their respective recent health problems, the Vatican said.

 A formal state visit by the royal couple to the Holy See on the back of their visit to Italy under way now was postponed earlier this year due to the convalescence of the pontiff from lengthy treatment in hospital for double pneumonia.

 During the conversation Wednesday, Francis “was able to congratulate their Majesties on the occasion of their wedding anniversary and reciprocated to His Majesty the wish for a prompt recovery of his health,” the Vatican press office said in a short statement.
