Body of Sapienza student Ilaria Sula found in suitcase

ROME - Wednesday morning the police continued their investigation into the murder of Ilaria Sula, who was 22 years old,a student at the Department of Statistical Sciences at La Sapienza in Rome, a prestigious university and had been missing March 25 only to be found dead in a suitcase, Tuesday evening, 6 days later.
The incident follows yet another femicide of a university student, Sara Campanella, in Sicily on Monday. According to reports, last Tuesday Ilaria left the house, which she shares with some roommates, and never returned. The last sighting was on the outskirts of the eastern quadrant of Rome, in Piazza del Quarticciolo, a notorious area of deprivation. The student's parents filed a complaint at the San Lorenzo police station, near the University, which began investigations with the Sant'Ippolito police station and the search for Ilaria.
Investigators were listening to the testimonies of the roommates, to get a clearer picture of the story. La Repubblica reports, that the Ilaria's last WhatsApp access dates back to last Wednesday, when her friends, after noticing she had not returned home, texted her. There was no reply.
Ilaria’s body was found in a suitcase 6 days later at the bottom of a cliff near Poli, a town to the east of Rome. Ilaria had recently ended her relationship with her boyfriend, who is now the main suspect and under questioning. The crisis squad immediately, focused on the recent ex-boyfriend and hypothesised that he killed Ilaria by stabbing her in the capital and then got rid of her body by placing it in a suitcase.
According to police sources, the phone records of the boyfriend, 23, who was of Filipino origin, incriminated him, with police hypothesising that he planned to use Ilaria’s to post stories on social media, suggesting that she was still alive. The police are also searching an apartment in quartiere Africano, where the student may have been killed, as the investigation is still on-going.
Ilaria Sula, was originally from Terni and was a girl with a bright future ahead of her. When she initially went missing her parents and friends started searching for her immediately, appealing to the public for information on social media but tragically the search did not find her alive.
