Sport stars and journalists celebrated at the International Prize for Mediterranean Excellence 2024

 ROME - The “Internation Prize for Mediterranean Excellence 2024” celebrates prominent figures in the world of sport and journalism. This year high profile recipients of the awards included Giuseppe Marotta, the CEO of Inter Milan, and Ciro Immobile, an Italian football star and Lazio legend. 

 The Palazzo Ventini greeted the distinguished guests in the event ran by the Mediterranean Press Association. During the evening many awards were presented, representing various different categories, with the goal of celebrating the personalities who make up the enthralling world of sport. 

 After receiving his award, Giuseppe Marotta expressed his gratitude for the award, saying that “For me, it is a source of pride and I share it with the whole of Inter who gave me the opportunity to achieve prestigious goals and objectives.” 

 Ciro Immobile spoke similarly after picking up his award on the night for his recent work in front of camera after an esteemed career on the football pitch. Immobile said “We are off to a very good start and doing good things, and I hope this award is motivation to continue in the future to have great success.” 

 During the festivities prominent figures from Italian sports institutions also shared a few thoughts including Silvia Salis, deputy vice president of CONI, and Luca Pancalli, president of the IPC. Pancalli renewed his commitment to Italian success in light of Italy's achievements at the last Paralympics in Paris. Pancalli stressed the importance of the visibility of young athletes and citing the milestones achieved: “Paris, on the other hand, I think represented the significance of many youngsters who showed their technical but also human value.”
