Boy, 17, confesses to killing mother, father, and brother, questioned again by police

ROME -- The 17-year-old boy who confessed to killing his mother, father, and 12-year-old brother in Paderno on Saturday has been questioned again by police. The boy told investigators on Tuesday he had no intention to kill, Il Fatto Quotidiano has reported.
Police were called to a house on Saturday evening in Paderno Dugnano, a town north of Milan, after the 17-year-old boy told emergency services he had killed his father. Fabio, 51, was reportedly found stabbed to death on a chair alongside the bodies of Daniela, 49, and 12-year-old Lorenzo, who also suffered fatal stab wounds.
The 17-year-old, whose identity has not been revealed for legal reasons, has been arrested on suspicion of triple homicide. According to events reconstructed by prosecutors, the boy took a meat knife from the kitchen around 2 a.m. on Saturday while his family were sleeping, following his father’s 51st birthday party. He then proceeded to stab his brother, mother, and father to death.
The boy had initially claimed he woke up to screams from his mother and brother before stabbing his father. But he has since changed his version of events to admit killing all three family members while being questioned in the Cesare Beccaria Youth Detention Centre.
The boy was questioned again by police on Tuesday to clarify the motive of the killings, but he reportedly told prosecutors he wanted to feel “free” and had no intention to kill.
The boy’s legal team has told investigators that the boy had been suffering from “malaise” for some time but insisted the crime was not premeditated.
He will be questioned again by police on Wednesday morning to establish a clearer motive for the killings, with autopsies on the family members also set to be carried out.
