Two earthquake tremors felt in Messina area of Sicily

MESSINA - - Two earthquake tremors were felt at 6:07am in Messina, in the Cesarò area of Sicily.
The first tremor was of a magnitude 4 and the second was of a magnitude 2. These were recorded at a depth of 19 KM and 24 KM. The municipalities closest to the epicentre of the quakes, in addition to Cesarò, are Troina (Enna), San Teodoro (Messina), Bronte (Catania) and Regalbuto (Enna), where the shocks were also felt.
The tremors were located by the INGVOE (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Etna Observatory) operations room in Catania, Sicily. INGV then reported two other tremors which were recorded in the area with the epicentre of San Teodoro, also in the Messina area, one of magnitude 2.2 at 6:28am and the other of magnitude 2.1 at 7:06am.
The Civil Protection then made the statement: “Following the seismic event recorded at 6:07am today, July 5, in the province of Messina, by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, with magnitude 4, the Italian situation room of the Civil Protection department got in touch with the local structures of the National Civil Protection Service. From the first checks carried out, the event was felt by the population, but no damage to people or things was reported."
