Fendi boutique robbed in Rome center

ROME – A gang of at least three thieves stole 100,000 euros worth of designer bags from the Fendi Boutique in the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, investigators confirmed.
On Wednesday morning, the Fendi store’s manager called for police intervention upon noticing that at least 29 designer bags, wallets, and clutches were missing.
Police arrived and acquired video surveillance of the robbery, including the thieves’ escape. However, their faces were covered, which may make it difficult for investigators to reveal their identities.
The store’s alarm never went off during the robbery, and investigators are also now trying to determine why. It could have been due to a system malfunction, but one hypothesis is that they cut the fiber optic wires of the alarm, deactivating it and getting away with the coup.
The thieves are suspected to have planned the robbery extensively, perhaps entering the store as fake customers to better understand the layout of the store and the bags they planned to steal.
A screwdriver and a chisel, tools used by the thieves to enter the store, were found at the scene. Both have been seized by investigators to try and identify any fingerprints.
The case proves to be a tricky one, as there are no witnesses. The stolen goods are traceable, however, if resold on “open” channels, and this could lead investigators to the thieves.
