EGO Festival, starred chefs from around the world in the city of Taranto

Five days of tastings, masterclasses and other food and wine events during EGO Festival
TARANTO -- From Spet. 19 to 24, the fourth edition of EGO Festival will be held in this Apulian port city, a food and wine event linked to professional training, with the participation of 12 internationally renowned chefs from different parts of the world -- Giorgio Diana, Gregoire Berger, Jaime Pesaque, Fatma Binta, Antonio Bachour, Ruben Arnanz, Christian Herrgesell, Kay Baumgardt, Nelson Chantrawan, Giovanni Solofra, Tim Golsteijn and Francesco Martucci.
The main theme of this edition will be regeneration, referring to the possibility of revitalization giving new life and strongly linked to the field of food and wine. This theme emphasises the future and the importance of looking ahead, always paying attention to repairing the damage of the past with a view to sustainability.
Monica Caradonna, a journalist and creator of EGO Festival, describes it thus "The theme of this edition is regeneration as openness to rebirth and redemption; it is the renewal of a life cycle, a virtuous circuit that does not destroy but recreates. The world of food and wine is inextricably linked to the land and human activities, and looking at regeneration means reviving what was obsolete and making it useful and productive again and again."
The EGO Festival includes a wide range of food and wine events, which will take place in the famous Apulian city during the five-day event. Among masterclasses, moments of study and international guests, important topics for the restaurant industry will be discussed, including the changes that have taken place with a view to sustainability.
In addition, on Friday Sept. 23, the unmissable Dinner Incredible project dinner will be held at the Relais Histò, during which the 12 chefs participating in the festival will present their own interpretation of Apulian raw materials. Therefore, this is a moment of sharing and haute cuisine not to be missed.
An interesting novelty of this fourth edition is the so-called 'Cozza in the City', an event celebrating the Taranto mussel during the last day of the festival, Saturday 24 September. On this occasion, a number of Apulian chefs will try their hand at using this renowned ingredient to create dishes that focus on the mussel.
In addition, at the former Mercato Coperto in Via Anfiteatro in Taranto, it will be possible to visit the stands of the chefs and Apulian oil companies and wineries linked to the Radici Virtuose project of Mipaaf, with the aim of celebrating and publicising the local products of the Salento. Participating in the project are the Consorzio di Tutela del Primitivo di Manduria, the Consorzio di Tutela dei Vini Doc Brindisi e Squinzano, the Consorzio del Salice Salentino Doc, the Consorzio dell'Olio di Puglia Igp, and the DAJS - Distretto Agroalimentare di qualità Jonico Salentino.
Taking part in EGO Festival means participating in a moment dedicated to taste, entertainment, conviviality and the unmistakable flavours of the Apulian region. The festival was created thanks to journalist Monica Caradonna and chef Martino Ruggieri, with the support of institutional partners such as the Apulia Region, the municipalities of Taranto, Martina Franca and Laterza, Programma Sviluppo e Autorità Portuale di Taranto, but also private partners such as the Varvaglione1921 winery and Radici Virtuose, Ferrarelle, Roboqpo, Longino & Cardenal the Bcc di San Marzano di San Giuseppe, Ninfole1921 and Bertos Cucine.
