Axeman fatally wounds doctor, 76

Milan– A doctor, 76-year-old Giorgio Falcetto was attacked and killed with a hatchet just outside of a clinic, police reported Thursday. Two days prior to his death, Falcetto was attacked with a hatchet in front of the emergency room where he worked by a convicted felon following an argument in the parking lot. Falcetto then underwent emergency neurosurgical operations for the deep gash wounds. Milan police have tracked down the felon guilty of the assault.
On Wednesday, medical staff reported that the doctor had not survived the neurosurgeries and passed away that evening. The perpetrator, identified as a 62-year-old, his name remains unreleased. The Milan prosecutor assigned to the murder case requested that the assailant remained in jail and his charge of attempted murder be increased to murder. The man confessed to police his responsibility for the crime and said that he had been under the doctor’s care for a problem that, “had not been resolved,” supposedly the motive prompting the attack.
The man was revealed by police to have a lengthy criminal history of fraud, and multiple run ins with the Milan police. However, prior to the recent attack, he had been reported to have been leading a fairly normal life, with a wife and two children. His murky past however is now being uncovered again as police determine whether the attack was premeditated or not. It was reported that a decision will be made by the prosecutor between Thursday and Friday.
