American airwoman arrested after 15-year old is killed in car crash while four times over the alcohol limit

PORDENONE – An American from the Aviano airbase has been taken into custody after a 15-year old was killed following a collision with a car on Saturday night, La Repubblica have reported.
The incident took place at around 2:30 in the morning when the driver lost control of the car after exiting a roundabout, leading to the card skidding into the teenager from behind.
The woman is reported to have been four times over the legal driving limit when the crash occurred.
The incident occurred on the roundabout near via Lazio and via Roveredo in Porcia in north eastern Italy.
The victim, who has been named as Giovanni Zanier, was walking back his bike back with friends, when he was hit.
Emergency services including an ambulance and a helicopter were immediately dispatched to the scene. When they arrived on the scene Zanier was still alive but he later died on the way to hospital.
Zanier was killed by an unnamed 20 year-old female US solider who has been arrested on homicide charges.
The 20-year old, who suffered minor injuries, has been released into US Army custody.
The Italian news agency ANSA have reported that the street was without light due to recent energy saving policies introduced by the local council.
