Italian priest to make ‘walk of peace’ from Ukraine to Poland

 LVIV- Don Santo Borrelli, the parish priest of Donnici is to set off on a journey on foot from war-torn Ukraine to Poland from July 31 to Aug 22, to show solidarity with the people affected by the conflict.

 “The journey is a lifestyle, a way of evangelising and sharing the sufferings of others,” Borrelli said in his interview. With the walk from Ukraine to Poland, the priest promises a “journey from within” to all those who will follow from back home and who wish to spread the culture of peace and forgiveness.

 Regarding Pope Francis’ appeal to not to remember the war in Ukraine and to not remain indifferent to the suffering cry of humanity, Borrelli, from the archdiocese of Cosenza and Bisignano will take a 'walk of peace' with the blessing of his archbishop Monsignor Francescantonio Nolè, starting from Lviv in Ukraine, to reach the Marian shrine of Czestochowa in Poland. During his journey, Borrelli will pass Krakow, going past the shrines dedicated to the Divine Misericordia and to St. John Paul II, as well as Auschwitz.

  The 'Walk of peace' will kick off on July 31 from the Lviv Cathedral, where Borrelli will deliver donations from by his parishioners to the Archbishop of Lviv, Monsignor Mieczyslaw Mokrzycki, as a sign of solidarity with the tragedy Ukrainian people are experiencing. The end of the symbolic walk is scheduled on Aug. 22 on the feast of Mary Queen of the Universe, with the consecration to Mother of God in the sanctuary of Czestochowa.
