Sant'Egidio movement to welcome 95 refugees

The refugees will be rehomed in several different Italian regions

ROME - On Thursday night as many as 95 refugees from the notorious Libyan detention camps were due to arrive at Fiumicino thanks to a human corridor arrangement brokered by the Sant'Egidio movement

 The refugees have been victims of torture and other serious mistreatment and come from several African countries including South Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia and Cameroon) as well as Syria. They will be moved to several different Italian regions including Lazio, Sicily, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Liguria.

 Their arrival comes after an agreement was signed by the Internal and Foreign Affairs Ministry, the UNHCR, and the Sant'Egidio movement for a total of 500 refugees to be rehomed in Italy.
