Mask only obligatory outside in Campania

ROME - Face-masks no longer need to be worn outside, unless you are in Campania or Norcia. Inside and at gatherings, or when social-distancing cannot be kept, masks should still be worn. “Today is a great day because all of our country, from today, is in ‘zone bianca’ and we can allow ourselves to be more free, but we must continue cautiously and carefully because the battle hasn’t been won yet. The virus is still significantly circulating, we are very aware of the variants and of what is happening in other European countries, and in the world, so it is right to continue this gradual journey one step at a time, with great attention,” said the minister of health, Roberto Speranza. “The masks are and will stay a fundamental element in our strategy. The masks will stay essential to fight Covid.”

From today, all of Italy can remove their masks outside, except Campania and Norcia. The governor, Vincenzo De Luca, has signed a decree that keeps the requirement of face-protection (in places at risk of gatherings) and has banned the selling of alcoholic drinks after 10 p.m. The mayor of Norcia, Nicola Alemanno, has signed the measure that has been extended to July 4th: the requirement to wear masks outside. The measure has been adopted on request of the regional commissioner for the Covid emergency: Massimo D’Angelo, due to the the local context of the pandemic. The number of weekly Covid cases, in Norcia, is over 200.
