Gallerie dell'Accademia reopens Palladio Wing

  VENICE - After two years of restoration work, Wednesday finally saw the reopening of the Palladio Wing of the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice.

  The restoration of the space designed by Andrea Palladio, one of great architectural value, was presented to the press on Wednesday by the director of the gallery, Giulio Manieri Elia, and many others involved in the curation and restoration project; Renata Casarin, the Veneto Regional Secretary of the Ministry of Culture; architect Luigi Girardini, the former chief procedural officer; architect Francesco Trovò, the manager of the works, and the other architects and engineers involved in the project, Ilaria Cavaggioni, Lara Bortoletto, Gennaro Miccio, Alberto Lionello and Giulia Passante.

  The realisation of the Palladio Wing is a preview of the exciting redevelopment of other rooms and sections of the gallery, which will be opening soon, including rooms dedicated to Da Vinci, Bassano and a reconstruction of the ceiling of Vasari's Palazzo Corner Spinelli.
