Venice mayor, 'museums will reopen April 24 and 25'

Luigi Brugnaro

VENICE - "We are ready to open all of the museums of the city on April 24 and 25," said Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro, live on Radio 24's Focus Economia, with Sebastiano Barisoni.

He continued, "We will restart activity, even restaurants, in a staggered way, but we will begin with museums, with all the necessary precautions... We are currently in an orange zone, but with the data I am seeing, we can move into yellow."

On the subject of restaurants, he said, "we need to restart activity, obviously not everything, but restaurants outside, yes. When we are ready to be able to open, we will reopen Venice. And it could be provisionally April 24 and 25. We will see if we will be satisfied. We may postpone it for another week, to the first and second of May."

Venice's orange zone details that all museums, restaurants and bars are closed, though reducing case numbers may allow for Venice to open up.
