ROME - The Office of Culture and Information for the Embassy of Turkey presents a new art exhibit at its office in Piazza della Repubblica that will be free to the public beginning Wednesday.
 
The exhibit, Permanenza: Notes on the Travel and Landscape of Turkey, features a new collection of paintings and sculptures by nine Italian artists. The artworks depict the ancient ruins, cultural memories, and landscapes of Turkey and express what a modern day trip to the country is like.

ROME-- Thousands of runners took to the streets last weekend to participate in Rome's 8th annual Hunger Run -The 10k competitive race and 5k run/walk are organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization to bring awareness to 842 million people worldwide who are suffering from chronic hunger.

Andrew Howe, Olympic athlete and honorary Hunger Run spokesperson expressed his enthusiasm for the cause. “I’m really happy to be here and to be able to help,” he said. "It’s great to see so many people coming out on a Sunday, even to walk. The most important thing is the cause.”

ROME - The Superintendent of Police in Naples has announced that a public funeral for Camorra boss Angelo Nuvoletta is prohibited from being held in the city, Il Mattino newspaper reports.
 
The 71-year-old mob boss had been serving a sentence at the Spoleto prison, but was brought to the Parma hospital where he died on Sunday.

ROME - Italian train operating company Trenitalia has signed a partnership agreement with Emirates airlines in an effort to develop synergy between the two companies.
 
The move brings Italy and the United Arab Emirates "closer" by helping to develop business and tourism in Italy, according to a press release issued by Trenitalia.
 
As part of the agreement, passengers of Emirates airlines will be offered reduced prices for same-day travel tickets on Italy's high speed trains when arriving in or departing from Rome, Milan, or Venice.
