ROME -- Senior representatives from the military, Christian, Jewish and Muslim establishments and Commonwealth Embassies gathered to mark Remembrance Day 2013.

 The proceedings at the Commonwealth War Graves cemetery in Testaccio commemorating the lives of the war dead were conducted by priests and ministers including Fr. Jonathan Boardman of the Anglican All Saints Church in Rome. The ceremony began with a reading of John McCrae’s WW1 poem ‘In Flanders Field,’ recalling that this year’s Remembrance Day also marks the 95th anniversary of the WW1 armistice.

ROME - British Prime Minister David Cameron has written a formal letter to European Commissioner Viviane Reding, urging her to resolve Italy's illegal discrimination against foreign lecturers. The prime minister intervened in the long-running dispute as the lecturers' union ALLSI prepared to attend a crucial hearing with the European Parliament Petitions Committee.

ROME– Ryanair continues its "extortionate" malpractises at Rome’s Ciampino Airport notwithstanding recent EU curbs on its frequently bogus “low cost” pricing policies and scandalous small print clauses, travellers say.

 While in British airports such as Manchester Ryanair staff will print boarding passes for passengers who have checked in online within the required time limit at Ciampino instead surley Ryanair staff last week-end demanded a swingeing 70 euros from budget travellers and students returning to Britain eking out their grants merely for printing out a boarding pass.

ROME -  Testa Dura Media company has begun production for Lobster fra Diavolo, a comedy film which focuses on a modern Italian-American family's Christmas Eve celebration.
 
Lobster fra Diavolo is based on the true story of a young vegan named Angie who reluctantly purchases a live lobster for Nonna's traditional Christmas Eve dinner. When Nonna goes to cook the lobster for the Feast of the Seven Fishes, the lobster reveals that it has other plans.

 ROME — Jhumpa Lahiri's Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Namesake has been adapted for the stage in an ambitious collaboration between The English Theatre of Rome and John Cabot University's Italy Reads Program. A keynote address from the author herself, delivered Wednesday evening at John Cabot University, enriched the events and activities that are part of the yearly community-based reading initiative.

 This is the fourth year that The English Theatre of Rome has helped put on a production in the fall, this time with the Embassy of India and the Embassy of the United States.
