   ROME -- Two firefighters have died falling from a cliff whilst trying to save a family from a house which had caught fire in Nova Siri, officials from the region of Basilicata have said.

  Giuseppe Lasalata and Antonio Martino, both 45, had been trying to reach an inhabited house in Contrada Cozzuolo in Nova Siri, which was surrounded by burning vegetation. The firefighters, who had arrived from Policoro, fell from a cliff and were then engulfed in flames. The two bodies have now been recovered.

  ROME -- Rome’s taxi sector is undergoing a mini-revolution: with one thousand more licences set to be issued, increased fares, and pushback from the drivers, Rome’s city council have said. 

  Currently, there are 7,800 licenses which allow taxi drivers to work on the streets of Rome, however, the next step by Rome’s unpopular mayor, Roberto Gualtieri, will be to increase the number of NCCs (car rentals with a driver) by 2000. Since 1993, no new NCC licenses have been issued.

  PAESTUM -- By 8 o' clock in the morning, customers's cars are already heading down the narrow road lined with towering cypresses to take their place in the queue at the door of the dairy at the Vannulo Buffalo Mozzarella Farm, Capaccio, near Paestum in Cilento (Campania).

  By 10, the day's supply of fresh mozzarella cheese is finished. Struggling to keep pace with demand, the company has had to limit over the counter sales to 5 kgs per person per day.

  ROME -- Public transport workers are set to strike on Thursday 18 July in Rome as part of a national strike, Roma Capitale have said. 

  Services will be disrupted between 8:30 AM and 12:30 PM, impacting operations by Atac, RomaTpl, and ATI Autoservizi Troiani/Sap. Additionally, workers affiliated with unions Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Ugl Fna, and Faisa Cisal will participate in the strike during this period.
