 ROME - the Trevi Fountain is set to undergo an 'extraordinary maintenance' project in the next few months, which will give tourists a remarkable view of the iconic artwork. Rome city council announced on Monday that a temporary elevated walkway will be constructed, allowing tourists to walk into the fountain and get closer to the iconic masterpiece whilst workers clean below.

 ROME - After a warrant was issued on Sept. 26, on Monday, police blitzed the characteristic kiosks outside of the Pompeii Excavations, sealing off 46. These tourist kiosks not only sold souvenirs, but also soft drinks and ice cream between Piazza Esedra, Pizza Anfiteatro, Via Roma and Villa dei Misteri.

 VATICAN CITY- Pope Francis has appointed 21 new Cardinals. This marks a pivotal decision that will significantly influence the future of the Catholic Church, particularly in the context of the next papal election. With 18 of the new appointees under the age of 80, they will be eligible to participate in the papal conclave tasked with electing Francis' successor. The new Cardinals means that the Pontiff has now appointed the majority of cardinals who will appoint his successor.

 ROME - Italian prosecutors have accused seven individuals and two companies of fraud and violating airplane safety regulations following an investigation into flawed Boeing 787 Dreamliner parts. The probe began in 2021 after Boeing flagged parts produced by subcontractors working for Italian aerospace giant Leonardo as improperly manufactured.

 PODGORICA - The Balkan River Summit 2024 was held in Podgorica to help save the valuable rivers in the Balkans that are in danger of damming.

 The Summit brought together over 100 international conservation experts, scientists, and activists in Podgorica, Montenegro, from 29 of September to 3 October. The event titled, “Uniting Voices for the Blue Heart of Europe” aimed at bringing together river defenders to protect the Balkan rivers and protest the imminent threat the rivers are facing from hydropower development.

 ROME - Wednesday saw the debut of a brand new concept exhibition at Rome's beloved MAXII - the city's leading museum for contemporary art. 'Cultural connections' ('Connesioni Culturali') is an immersive and interactive VR experience, where, by slipping on VR goggles, participants suddenly find themselves transported into select rooms of the Vittoriale degli Italiani - the estate and home of Gabriele D'Annunzio in Lombardia, now a popular museum celebrating the poet's life.
