 ROME. - In Piacenza, an armed gang staged a dramatic heist at a DHL warehouse. The heist took place in the dead of night on Sunday in the warehouse in Monticelli d’Ongina in the province of Piacenza.

 The armed gang broke into the warehouse known to store over a million euros' worth of electronics and other goods. The total amount that they stole is yet undisclosed but it expected to reach at least the hundreds of thousands.

 ROME - There will be a strike of transport workers on Friday, with half the public services at risk and no guarantee of timetables.

 This comes as the trade unions Cgil, Cisl, Uil, Ugl e Faisa Cisal have announced they will be doing a 24 hour strike on Friday.

 In Rome this will impact Atac services and suburban lines managed by private operators. Only essential services will run at the start of the day at 8:30 a.m., and between 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

 ROME - Serie A leaders Napoli have picked up their second loss of the season, losing 3-0 against Atalanta. The loss leaves them now only one point clear at the top of the table.

 Atalanta proved they were no match for Napoli in the first half, opening the scoring in the ninth minute thanks to a quick-thinking volley by Ademola Lookman. Lookman then scored his second in the 31st minute riffling the ball into the bottom right hand corner from outside the penalty area, leaving Napoli’s goalkeeper defenceless.

 ROME - Massimiliano Galletti, an Italian volunteer emergency responder, tragically lost his life after being seriously injured by a grenade blast while providing aid in Ukraine. Galletti was struck by the explosive device in September while working on the frontlines, where he was engaged in humanitarian activities to assist civilians affected by the ongoing conflict.

 Despite receiving intensive medical care, Galletti was unable to recover from the injuries he sustained. He died after being in a coma for a month.

 VATICAN - In his Angelus address on All Saints' Day 2024, Pope Francis urged the faithful to be “builders of peace” like the saints, reminding them that true peace is not simply the absence of conflict or the convenience of tranquillity, but a deeper commitment to justice, mercy, and self-giving love. He noted that authentic peace requires cultivating justice through small, daily acts of kindness and by maintaining a "disarmed heart" free of hostility and bitterness, even in the face of provocation.

 ROME -In 2024, NAS, the so-called Italian food police, closed 57 restaurants due to expired food, poor hygiene, and a lack of food traceability, officials say. This marks a significant increase from the previous year, with more than double the amount of closures than 2023. The combined value of closed businesses this year is estimated at 40 million euros, a rise from 38 million euros last year and almost twice the 17 million euros in 2022.

 ROME - Two students from Rome's Montessori High School have been suspended for 10 days after posting a photo online in which they are seen making a fascist salute in the classroom. In addition to the suspension, their punishment include school-based community service and reading some specifically chosen texts to help them reflect on their behaviour.
