ROME — Two are dead, eight injured, and four missing after an explosion at an Eni refinery in Tuscany Monday morning.

Police and firefighters are at the scene, 10-odd km north of Florence. An Eni spokesperson said that flames were confined to the site of the explosion and did not affect the depot's fuel storage tank farm.

 Sir, I am an FAO retiree who prefers to remain anonymous as I am still enjoying coffee at the FAO cafeteria and exchange of views with old and new colleagues. My opinion is one of several but after decades in the Organization I want to bring my views in a wider public as I do love this Organization and I am very much concerned with current development there.

 VATICAN CITY - A spokesperson for the Vatican has said that the bruise on Pope Francis' chin, which was visible in Sunday's ceremony, is the result of a domestic accident with his nightstand. 

 Matteo Bruni told the press that the pontiff bashed his chin on a cabinet prior to Sunday's ceremony, which saw the appointment of 21 new cardinals, resulting in a significant bruise and plaster. 

 Francis is one of the oldest pope's in history, and will celebrate his 88th birthday on Dec. 17.

 ROME – The FAO has apparently rehabilitated former FAO soil officer Ronald Vargas who was fired by the UN agency for alleged sexual harassment, collaborating with him to nominate him as moderator of a high level event in Riyadh last week to celebrate World Soil Day at UNCCD Cop 16, FAO sources say.

  ROME-- The Vatican opens its doors to the LGBTQ+ community during the 2025 Jubilee.

 Pope Francis has declared that Jubilee opens its doors to any members of the LGBTQ+ community who will make their pilgrimage to Rome for the event. The official calendar of the Holy Year has inserted a few days on the calendar dedicated to any members of the community as well as their friends and families.

 ROME- On Tuesday, the community of Sant’Egidio is organizing a prayer vigil for world peace at 6:30 pm in the square of Santa Maria in Trastevere. The service will be presided over by the Archbishop of Bologna and President of the Italian Episcopal Conference, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi.

 

 The event is organized on International Human Rights Day with the hopes of honoring those who have lost their lives due to war and to counter the use of violence as a solution.

 NAPLES - The National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology recorded a tremor of 3.4 magnitude at 05:33 this morning in Naples. 

 Whilst magnitude 3 on the Richter scale is towards the lower end of the spectrum (which measures from 1 to 10), the tremor was strong enough to be noticed by people in several Western areas of Naples - Bagnoli, Agnano and Fuorigrotta.

 The earthquake's epicentre was in Pozzuoli, which is located in the Phlegraean Fields - an large volcanic area which frequently experiences seismic activity, and was declared a regional park in 2003.

 ROME -Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán began at around 15:45 and lasted about one hour and a half. There was no press inside, just a official statement afterwards which was full of meaningless phrases as an attempt to feign a consolidated approach to challenges such as the war in the Ukraine.
