VATICAN CITY -- Pope Francis appeared in St Peter's Square Sunday for the first time since he was hospitalised earlier this year, smiling and greeting a crowd of pilgrims and faithful attending an open air Mass for the Jubilee of the sick, part of the Holy Year activities under way in the Vatican.

 ROME – Police were investigating Friday the death of American student, Anne Avarie Tierney, 21, who had died after eating avocado toast in the bohemian Eternal City neighborhood of Pigneto on Wednesday afternoon, police said

 The young woman, who was allergic to cashews, went into anaphylactic shock, collapsing on the road opposite Vitiminas 24, a local vegan cafe. A desperate race to save her then ensued, with the call to 118 and the administration of cortisone. Healthcare personnel performed CPR for 30 minutes, but there was nothing to be done to save the girl. 

ROME -  Wednesday morning the police continued their investigation into the murder of Ilaria Sula, who was 22 years old,a student at the Department of Statistical Sciences at La Sapienza in Rome, a prestigious university and had been missing March 25 only to be found dead in a suitcase, Tuesday evening, 6 days later. 

 BRUSSELS -- A record 7^th case concerning foreign language lecturers “lettori” in Italian universities is headed for the Court of Justice of the European Union with the date of the hearing yet to be announced, European Commission officials said Tuesday. The ALLSI lecturers' trade union chairman, David Petrie, assisted by top Italian labour lawyer Professor Avv.
