Woman dies in sushi supper riddle

The 33-year-old died after eating sushi

CESENA-- A 33-year-old woman has died after eating sushi in a restaurant in Cesena, Emilia Romagna.

She visited the sushi restaurant on Easter Sunday with her family and felt unwell when she got home- her husband then took her to Bufalini hospital where she was admitted with acute respiratory difficulties.

Soon after, she fell into a coma and died five days later. Her husband was also unwell, vomiting, while their five-year-old son felt no bad effects.

The deputy public prosecutor of Forlì, Laura Brunelli, assisted by lawyer, Angelo Pisarro, started the investigation after the husband reported her death, and has charged the owner of the restaurant, a 37-year-old Chinese man, with manslaughter.

In the next few days the forensic doctor, Donatella Fedelli, will carry out an autopsy to work out the cause of death- possibly a sudden allergic reaction.

Meanwhile Emilia Romagnan health authorities have carried out inspections on the property to look for ingredients stored incorrectly that could have provoked the illness.

However, the investigation didn’t find any hygiene breeches, and the restaurant stays open as usual.
