Italian cannibal killer, Stefano Brizzi, dies in prison

LONDON -- Stefano Brizzi, the Italian 51-year-old who murdered a Metropolitan Police officer and attempted to cannibalise parts of his victim, “died in custody on Sunday,” says the Ministry of Justice.

The Italian was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2016 (minimum 24 years) for the murder of 59-year-old P.C Gordon Semple.

The pair had met over the dating app ‘Grindr.’ Brizzi claimed at his trial that the victim died during “a sex game gone wrong.” This story did not pass with the jury however, who found him guilty of murder by a majority of 10-2.

According to sources, Brizzi was a fan of the television series ‘Breaking Bad,’ in which the lead characters dissolve a drug dealer in a bath of acid in one climactic scene, something Brizzi might have tried to recreate.

Attempts had been made to roast and boil body parts of the victim's corpse.

The prosecution said in court that an expert odonatologist had confirmed that Brizzi had tried to eat the flesh of his victim, having been caught by neighbours who had reported a foul smell coming from his flat.
