New U.S Ambassador once 'Patron of Twin Towers'

Lewis 'Lew' Eisenberg

ROME -- Lewes ‘Lew’ Eisenberg, the 75-year-old financial expert from Chicago who once managed the Twin Towers and saw them collapse, leaving many of his employees dead, has been appointed by President Trump to become the new Ambassador of the United States to Italy, diplomatic sources say Wednesday.

Eisenberg was brought up in a Jewish family from Illinois but grew up in Chicago, working for 23 years with Goldman Sachs, later founding his own investment firm in the 90s and then moving on to become head of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, overseeing the Twin Towers.

On Sept. 12, the day after the terrorist attack on the Towers, ‘Lew’ said, “I have seen my Towers fall, I am more devastated than imaginable. In many aspects, this incident is even worse than Pearl Harbour.”

This man has been chosen by Donald Trump to serve as US Ambassador to Italy. Congress still needs to approve the nomination.

Eisenberg is a personal friend of Trump, capable of managing millions of dollars -- a ‘magician’ of fundraising and treasurer of the Grand Old Party which funnelled millions into Donald’s victorious campaign, says Roman daily Il Messaggero.

A ‘moderate’ Republican who is against the ‘pro-life,’ anti-abortion perspective and who signed the petition for gay marriage, the new soon-to-be Ambassador enters the White House from the front door entrance and has a direct line to the President.

Up until now, since the tragedy which took the lives of 84 of his employees, ‘Lew’ has worked to rationalise expenditure, reducing the number of jobs from 9,200 to 7,200, and his company has invested over 10 million dollars into the World Trade Centre.

Hence, a man of incredible financial and political influence, what does this appointment mean for Italy? In short, if nothing else, it signifies that great attention from the U.S is being paid to the peninsula.
