New Education Minister Fedeli 'fibs about her degree'

New Education Minister Valeria Fedeli

ROME -- Newly-appointed Education Minister Valeria Fedeli lied about having a degree on her online CV, critics said Thursday.

On the new Education Minister’s website (www.valeriafedeli.it), she has published a CV which reads on the second line, “Degree in Social Services” -- equivalent to the existing Social Sciences degree.

However, even her closest co-workers said, “No, Valeria Fedeli does not have a degree,” justifying  “why she does not call herself Doctor,” Il Fatto Quotidiano writes -- the lady in charge of universities and education has lied about her own qualifications.

In an interview, Fedeli used a vaguer term -- “I was born in Treviglio July 29, 1949. Once I finished school, I moved to Milan where I attained a degree qualification in Social Sciences at UNAS.”

However, her co-workers said that she had simply frequented “the three-year course at the school for becoming a social worker, a course which when taught today is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, but that back in the day absolutely did not have the value of a degree.”
