ROME -- The Commonwealth Club of Rome hosted an event Monday evening at the Savoy hotel terrace in the Eternal City, in which the British Ambassador to Italy H.E. Jill Morris addressed attendees on the topic -- UK & Italy: a renewed partnership for a post-referendum Britain.

The ambassador talked optimistically about how Britain would proceed with post-Brexit arrangements, and especially about how the British government would progress positively in its relations with Italy.

The speech and aperitif was held at the spectacular terrace of the Savoy Hotel in Rome, on Via Ludovisi, 15, at 5:45 p.m., and attended by a mixture of members, including diplomats, businessmen, academics and journalists.

Ms Jill Morris CMG was appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Italian Republic and Her Majesty’s non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of San Marino in succession to Mr Christopher Prentice CMG. Ms Morris took up her appointment during July 2016.

Established in 1947, the Commonwealth Club of Rome has been a forum where members from Commonwealth countries and others can meet and exchange ideas of common interest. The Club has hosted many events with prominent guest speakers addressing issues relevant to Commonwealth countries active in Rome. The club is a branch of the Royal Commonwealth Society.
