Prayers for Shahbaz Bhatti

 ROME -- To mark the fifth anniversary of the assassination of Pakistani Christian minister Shahbaz Bhatti, killed five years ago on March 2, there will be a remembrance prayers being held in the basilica on San Bartolomeo all’Isola on Friday, March 4 at 8.30 p.m.

 Minister Bhatti was killed in Islamabad on March 2, 2011, because of his commitment to the defense of Christians and of all minorities.  The Community of Sant’Egidio, along with the Association of Pakistani Christians in Italy, will remember him with prayers in the Basilica of San Bartolomeo on Tiber Island.

 The prayers will be presided over by Mons. Joseph Coutts, the Archbishop of Karachi and president of the Episcopal Conference of Pakistan.
