ATAC to sell bus tickets with Totti on them

Totti is to appear on bus tickets in the capital

ROME - First Pope Francis, and now another Francesco’s image, perhaps equally beloved to many Romans,  will be on bus tickets in the Eternal City, the DIRE news agency has disclosed.

ATAC wants to wish a happy birthday to Roman football captain Francesco Totti, who will celebrate his 39th birthday on September 27. Therefore, they have decided to pay homage to the star player of the Giallorossi team by selling 500 thousand limited edition tickets, all showing him in different poses.

At the price of six euros, in a few days, all authorised shops in the capital will sell a book of four tickets with the figure of Totti on them.

This is quite a limited print run, especially if one takes into consideration the fact that in one month 10 million tickets are printed, reaching up to 100 million in a year.

However, this is not the first time that ATAC has released special tickets. In 2013, the Roman public transport company wanted to welcome the new Pope Francis, in 2011, they celebrated the beatification of Pope John Paul II and then in 2014, they celebrated the canonisation of John XXIII.

The official announcement by ATAC is expected to be on Thursday September 24. ATAC has not revealed much, although it is speculated that Totti may attend the event of ticket promotion himself, the DIRE report added.
