Agi signs agreement with IRNA

Agi and IRNA have signed an agreement to expand Middle Eastern press coverage

ROME - The company Agi (Agenzia Giornalistica Italia) continues to expand internationally, enhancing the coverage of news in the Middle East, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding on editorial cooperation with IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency. IRNA is the main news agency of Iran.

This agreement with IRNA, with the backing of the Ambassador of Iran, H.E. Jahanbakhsh Mozaffari, was signed in Rome by the CEO of Agi, Gianni Di Giovanni, and by the Chairman and CEO of IRNA, Mohammed Khoddadi.

“We welcome the progress in relations between Iran and Italy” said the Chairman and CEO of IRNA, Mohammed Khoddadi. “Rome’s stance on Iranian developments has always been positive and this agreement can now contribute towards the improvement of international cooperation. Furthermore, under the government’s new management, IRNA has been told to rejuvenate its activities, particularly economic news, and therefore, the agreement with Agi fits perfectly into our strategy.”

According to Agi, they are “honoured to be the first Western editorial agency to form an allegiance with Iran, following the end of international sanctions” said Gianni di Giovanni. “This decision was strongly supported by the Italian government and, borrowing the words of Minister Zarif, it opens ‘a new era of hope’”.

Agi is one of Italy’s leading news companies, founded in 1950. It has a network of correspondents and partners in over 50 countries and news production in 7 languages, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
