Metro C to open “by end of October”

New trains designed for Metro C

ROME- The much-awaited third line of the city’s metro system is on track to open to customers by the end of this month.

Rome’s transport councillor, Guido Improta, made the announcement on Thursday, saying “we will open Metro C by the end of October. The technicians are preparing the paperwork. The priority is to open with fully safe conditions. My hope is that if we don’t have all of the authorisations by this Saturday, it will only be a matter of a few days.”

The announcement only applies to a section of the metro line, which has been in construction since 2008. Works have been constantly plagued by delays due to the difficulties of constructing tunnels in archaeologically important sites.
