CASERTA - Thirteen people have been placed under house arrest on charges of marketing adulterated mozzarella cheese, police said Monday.

 Authorities in the province of Caserta north of Naples ordered the Cantile di Sparanisce firm closed together with six of its shops after the cheese failed tests by hygiene inspectors. Among those charged were veterinarian surgeons working in the local health authority, the police report said.
