Veronese wines take off to Hong Kong for benefit dinner

ROME - The wines of Verona have taken off for Hong Kong to be featured at a benefit dinner which will contribute to Emergency International, an Italian NGO which supports global healthcare projects.

The event, "Arena di Verona: 100 Years of Opera", celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Arena of Verona opera festival, while also seeking to spread the word of the Italian work throughout the world.

The benefit dinner will feature three distinct wines created by the 4,900 wine growers from the four wine consortia of Verona: Bardolino, Custoza, Soave, and Valpolicella. Several wine bottles signed by famous names in music, art, and sports will be auctioned off at the end of the night. Some who have offered their signatures are Plácido Domingo, Renzo Piano, and Gino Strada.

The journalist and photographer Marino Sterle will also present his work "Angeli", a unique photo collage that will be auctioned off at the end of the evening.

The event will take place at 7:30 pm on Oct. 18 at Domani Ristorante in Hong Kong.
