ROME -- Beginning next Monday, Oxford University professor Dr Chris Wickham will launch a three day lecture series on the origins of Italy's communes.

 

Dr Wickham is Oxford's Chichele Professor of Medieval History. The first lecture, about the Milan commune, will be held at 6:30 pm Sept. 30 in the Auriana Auditorium at the American University of Rome. The second lecture will be held at 5 pm on Oct.1 at the American Studies Center and will discuss the Pisa commune.

 

The series will conclude with a lecture on the commune of Rome Oct. 2 at 6 pm at the American Academy in Rome.
