CREMONA - - The Italian steelmaker Acciaieria Arvedi and the German luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz AG have signed a cooperation agreement for the supply of sustainable steel.

The deal is regarding the supply of Arvzero, the sustainable steel produced starting from recycled material (ferrous scrap) and with electric power from wholly renewable sources.

The steelmaker and the car manufacturer signed the deal in Cremona, at the Finarvedi headquarters.

“Arvzero” is a steel produced using innovative technology, the fruit of over 30 years of study, research and development, based on an electric furnace production cycle, charged with scrap and based on the Arvedi ISP/ESP Technology.

By applying the principle of the circular economy, i.e. starting from recycled material and using only renewable electric power, it achieves the goal of sustainable steel.

Over the years Acciaieria Arvedi has managed to reach high levels of environmental sustainability, in particular by decarbonising the steel production cycle, and is therefore able to be a reliable partner for all those companies which intend to create a green supply chain.

“The cooperation with Mercedes-Benz AG”, said Cav. Giovanni Arvedi, Chairman of Finarvedi, “represents a significant international recognition for us of our commitment in technological innovation to produce sustainable steel.”
