New Laika street art appears in support of Iranian women

Laika's recent work, 'Poisoned by the Islamic regime'

ROME - A new mural has appeared by famous street artist Laika, depicting a female student wearing a Hijab and a gas mask reading a manual on “How to overthrow the Islamic regime.” The street art, which appeared on the night of International Women’s Day, is intended as a clear reference to the recent poisonings of female students in Iran.

The mural appeared on the night between Thursday and Friday, on Via Nomentana, near the Iranian Embassy and is entitled “Poisoned by the Islamic regime.” Laika himself commented on the piece saying, “I leave to the street another work in support of Iranian women. It is vital to support this revolution and to continue to expose the Islamic regime's human rights violations against the population.”

The cases of poisoning of Iranian schoolgirls have recently come to light and Laika comments on this saying, “The message is clear: they want to punish the very heart of change. They want to scare girls because they are the engine of the revolution. It is them that the regime fears.”

The street artist concludes: “We must make these girls feel all the support we can. From Rome to Teheran - Woman, life, freedom!"
