Polish composers to be celebrated at Cremona Musica Festival

 CREMONA – On Wednesday, the preview of events to take place was presented, as part of the new edition of Cremona Musica 2022 scheduled from Sep 23 to 25, during which there will be a concert devoted to two great Polish composers, Fryderyk Chopin, and Henryk Wieniawski.

 Cremona Musica is a world leading trade fair for highly crafted musical instruments. Less than three months after its inauguration, Cremona Musica presented the program of its International Exhibition and Festival that will take place in September at the fair and in the historic centre of the city. Cremona Musica International Exhibition and Festival will host many artists and music stars from various countries.

 On Sep. 24 at 9 p.m., Auditorium Giovanni Arvedi will host a concert dedicated to two eminent Polish composers, Fryderyk Chopin and Henryk Wieniawski. The pieces by Wieniawski for violin and piano will be played by Polish violinist Agata Szymczewska, winner of the 13th International Henryk Wieniawski Competition, accompanied by Witold Szymczewski. Then, the pianist from Spain Martin Garcia Garcia, winner of the third prize at the Chopin 2021 Competition will present his interpretation of some of Chopin’s pieces.

 That evening will also include an awards ceremony, presenting the Cremona Musica Award in the communication category of the XXIII Chopin Prize. Artur Sklener, President of the Chopin Institute and Aleksander Laskowski, communications director of the Chopin Prize will receive the prize.

 During the three days of the festival, over 100 events are scheduled at the Cremona exhibition centre, including concerts, recitals, competitions, exhibitions, and presentations. The events will take place in prestigious locations of the city, such as at the Ponchielli Theater, at the Auditorium Giovanni Arvedi of the Violin Museum, in the courtyard of Palazzo Affaitati and in the courtyard of Federico II, right in front of the Piazza del Comune.

 The cultural events in Cremona have been organised with the assistance of local institutions, including the town hall, the Chamber of Commerce and trade associations.
