Slow Fish comes to Genoa, to spread good food and passion for the sea

GENOA - After almost a year and a half of lockdowns, closures and cancellations, Slow Fish - the biennial event dedicated to all things seafood - has timed its return perfectly to bring good food and passion for the sea to hungry Italians emerging from lockdown.

The tenth edition of Slow Fish, organised by the Slow Food organisation and the region of Liguria, will consist of a month of digital events (60 and counting) starting from June 3, and will conclude with four days, July 1-4, of live, in person events in the historic centre of Genoa.

The heart of Slow Fish is the link between its gastronomic soul and the education of people of all ages, this year with a narrative concentrated especially on everything and everyone involved in the water cycle, starting with those communities that have had to adapt to changes in the ecosystem.

Slow Fish, with help from the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the Municipality of Genoa and Genoa’s Chamber of Commerce, will present a rich and articulated programme, with events offering several opportunities for participation, including ‘Food Talk’, ‘Fish Out Of Water’, ‘How Do We Do It?' and ‘Sea Tales’.

During the last weekend of June and first four days of July, restaurants, breweries, taste workshops, food trucks, fishmongers and several other of Slow Food’s partners throughout Liguria will open their doors, with many offering new dishes specially devised for Slow Fish.

“Without water, fresh or salty, there is no life, an idea which Genoa holds very close,” said the Mayor of Genoa, Marco Bucci. “This same commitment that Slow Fish has always shown, with courage and determination, it shows again this year, organising a rich programme of events and initiatives, in person and remotely, to explain to young people and adults the importance of protecting the sea and the environment."
