British Ambassador set to visit Marsala in May

 MARSALA, Sicily – The British Ambassador to Italy, Lord Llewellyn, is set to go Marsala on May 11 to strengthen traditional ties between Britain and the port city that go back to the days when Lord Nelson's fleet used to take collect Marsala wine there.

 Lord Llewellyn will visit Marsala in the second month of the “Marsala Summer” programme, which until mid-October, celebrates the 250th anniversary of Marsala wine.

 The Mayor Massimo Grillo defined the programme in store as a “a rich calendar with artistic genres ranging from music to theatre, from sport to the Mediterranean diet, from conferences to vintage cars, from exhibitions to tastings of typical products.”

 "There are other events on the calendar of considerable appeal that, we are certain, will have positive economic repercussions in the area,” said Councillor Bilardello.

 The reference is mainly to the Francesco Gabbani concert in August and to the Wine Marathon with its almost one thousand participants. "We are working hard to ensure that citizens enjoy happy and cultural moments, but also to welcome visitors in the best possible way,” says councillor Agate. To this end, the utmost attention is being paid to services, starting with urban transport to improve connections with the northern and southern slopes, with the sandy shores and the landing stages to Mozia being accessible by bus.
