Three foreign prostitutes stabbed to death in Prati by suspected serial killer

Investigators outside one of the apartments in Prati

ROME – Police were searching for a potential serial killer on Friday after three women, two Chinese and one Colombian, were stabbed to death in Prati. Investigations are underway to determine whether there was a link between the three killings, which all took place on Wednesday night in the apartments where the women were working as prostitutes.

Two of the victims were Chinese citizens in their 40s, and the third, Marta Castano, was a 65 year-old who was born in Colombia. As all three died from knife wounds, police suspect that the same perpetrator may be responsible for each incident. Investigators said that the phone records of the victims were being studied in order to identify their clients of Wednesday night, and that they were also analysing local CCTV footage.

The three femicides were committed in the area around Piazzale Clodio, the site of the Roman city court. “This is a quiet area, only a few metres from the courthouse,” a local shopkeeper said, “what happened is truly alarming.”
