Photographer Thierry Bruneau dies in India

ROME– Franco-Italian photographer Thierry Bruneau has died on the Indian island of Goa at age 33, local authorities and the Italian Consulate said. Bruneau, considered one of the most talented young photographers in Italy, died accidentally Feb. 28.
In November 2010 Thierry scored a major journalistic scoop for by obtaining exclusive photographs of the luxurious villa on the Via Appia Antica occupied by Kanayo Nwanze, the Nigerian president of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
As a result of the report, published in the Italian Insider Nwanze came under pressure to resign from the leadership of the U.N. agency and was obliged to move out of the villa to more humble accommodation with his family. Thierry’s photographs were bought by the Economist, Il Messaggero newspaper and other publications around the world that followed up the Insider exposée.
Thierry was born in Rome June 3, 1978, attending the Lycée Chateaubriand and Italian schools. He studied photography with his father Gerald, a leading French photojournalist based in Rome.
