Kuwait pavilion to welcome one millionth visitor

ROME- The Kuwait Pavilion organisers at Milan Expo 2015 are celebrating following the announcement that a strong influx of visitors to the Middle Eastern nation’s pavilion has meant that the extraordinary structure may be welcoming its one millionth visitor in a matter of weeks, according to Kuwait’s General Consul in Milan Abdulnasser Boukhaddour.
In a statement from the General Consulate, Boukhaddour was said to have been delighted with the success of the Kuwait Pavilion, which reached 750,000 visitors last Thursday. With the promising figures, it is highly expected by Boukhaddour that the number of visitors will surpass one million in the next few weeks. He also added that the pavilion has been a great experience for all involved.
The 750,000th visitor to the pavilion was an Italian man named Edoardo, who was visiting the world fair with his daughter. Head of the pavilion Mazen Al-Ansari said that the pavilion’s staff honoured the two visitors for the occasion, and guaranteed a memorable visit by offering a special tour of the striking construct.
Under the theme of ‘Challenge of Nature’, Kuwait Pavilion organisers strove to put an emphasis on the nation’s successful approach to modernisation and provision of water in a country covered by desert. The latter issue is made concrete by the pavilion’s unique architecture, said to resemble the sails of a dhow, a wooden boat which has been used for centuries up to the present day in the Arabian Gulf.
The pavilion presents visitors with methods employed to make the desert habitable, including education, technology, science and renewable energy, which has in turn modernised a small country capable of “feeding the planet”, tying in with the Expo’s overarching theme. The pavilion also hopes to fascinate visitors, by showcasing the Middle Eastern state’s synergy of tradition and culture with science and modernity.
