Pensioner ‘accidentally’ killed returning from grocery shopping

75-year-old pensioner shot dead in Naples

NAPLES – A 75-year-old pensioner, Mariano Bottari, was shot dead in cross fire between gansters in Portici (Naples) after returning from grocery shopping, police said.

Following initial investigations, police sources have said that Mr. Bottari was not the intended target of the shooting, but that the father of six, may have simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Three people travelling on two scooters engaged in a fight whilst driving across Via Scalea. One of the two people travelling on the second scooter allegedly shouted to the person on the first scooter, “I have to kill you,” before firing a high-caliber weapon and hitting Mr Bottari in the face.
