Defence asks new DNA test on Yara suspect

BERGAMO – After almost three hours of interrogation, Massimo Bossetti, the man accused of Yara Gambirasio’s homicide, still declares his innocence-at the end of the questioning his attorneys have expressed the intent to ask for another DNA test.

According to sources, there are contradictions in Bossetti’s explanations regarding his life style and social relations. An example being when Bossetti was asked about his visits to his local spa where he went to get tanned - according to Bossetti, he rarely went, however the spa director claims that he frequently attended.

Bossetti also clarified the use of his mobile, which is compatible with the time 13-year-old Yara was kidnapped in the afternoon of Nov. 26, 2010. According to Bossetti, he stopped using it until 7:30 AM the following day because “it was out of battery.”

“The investigation is crazy,” said Claudio Salvagni, Bossetti’s attorney. “I don’t think we will be able to resolve it in a week.” According to Salvagni, Bossetti answered all the questions asked by the public prosecutor. Sources also say Bossetti never mentioned other people that might be involved in the homicide as sources have been claiming in the last few days.

The evidence found in Bossetti’s Volvo and on his truck will be analyzed this week. Investigations are also being conducted on the relationship between Bossetti and Yara, which still remains unclear.
