Colosseum's newly cleaned structure

ROME-The Colosseum displays its newly refurbished arcades as conservators removed the scaffolding surrounding the exterior on Monday giving tourists the chance to see the 2000-year old monument at its best.

On Monday morning restoration workers took down the scaffolding to reveal five pristine arcades of newly restored Travertine stone as part of the 35 million dollar cleaning project.

During the next few weeks another five arcades will be sectioned off with scaffolding to allow workers to continue refurbishment. With five arcades under their belts, workers still have to clean the remaining 75. The estimated completion of the project is 2016.
