Another 60 clients of Roman "baby" prostitutes to stand trial
ROME- More than 60 more people are being indicted on charges of exploiting two teenage call girls working from an apartment in the smart Parioli neighbourhood, judicial surces said Thursday.
The prosecutors in the case have indicated they are not open to plea bargaining and have decided to prosecute the defendants in the shortest time possible. Among the accused is right-wing politician Alessandra Mussolini’s husband, Mauro Floriani, according to the sources.
All of the clients, including Floriani, were identified through the list of phone calls the two girls, as young as 14 and 15, received on their cell phones.
Telephone tabulations have lead investigators to a list of clients of the baby call girls that reportedly includes four senior functionaries of UN agencies in Rome, the FAO and IFAD. It was not immediately known if any UN staff are among the 60 being indicted, however.
This is the second series of indictments that the Procura di Roma is pursuing, following the sentencing of the mother of one of the girls, who was sentenced to 6 years of prison, and all eight defendants found guilty of exploiting child prostitution, including the ringleader of the group, Mirko Ieni, who was sentenced to 10 years of prison.
Charges against the eight included aiding and exploitation of prostitution, blackmail, possession of child porn, and drugs sale.
